Canada’s Energy Mix Giant Floor Map measuring 5.33 metres by 4 metres (17 feet by 13 feet) helps Canadian students in grades K-12 discover where their energy comes from and how it makes it to their home. Using curriculum-linked learning activities and a chest full of props, students and teachers work together to animate the map and get a hands-on education about Canadian energy issues.

General Note

Each giant floor map comes with a bilingual teacher’s kit containing 10 curriculum-linked laminated learning modules designed for all Canadian students at the elementary and secondary levels. The activities incorporate the hands-on learning resources found in the chest, including image cards, pylons and more, to help bring Canada’s energy story to life and to better enhance the floor map experience for your students.

Availability: The Giant Floor Maps are available on loan for 2-week periods throughout the school year and by special request during the summer. The map will be shipped in a large chest that also includes a teacher’s guide, cards, and additional materials.

PLEASE NOTE: The maps require an indoor, clean, flat surface. The maps may not be used outdoors. Participants must take their shoes off when participating on the map. Please read and follow the full instructions within the package of materials.
