When President Captain America introduces a cure for the mutant gene, the handful of remaining mutants relocates to a government-issued plot of land and establishes a sovereign mutant nation under the leadership of Kitty Pryde. But freedom comes with a price and the seat of power does not go unchallenged as former Morlock Mach Two pieces together a resistance to Kitty's authority. On the barren soil of the reservation, the mutant outcasts develop the sentient seed--a solution for world hunger--and although Kitty uses it as a peace offering to the rest of the world, not everyone is willing to accept the gift. As tensions build within the reservation, international interests take aim at the fractured mutant community and the future of the mutant race hangs in the balance.
