Seventeen-year-old Konrad (Rad) comes home to find his twin brother on a small platform that juts out over the ravine behind their house, and their father's broken body lying at the bottom of the slope 30 feet below. Rad doesn't know whether his brother pushed the father, or whether he jumped or fell. He wants to get to the bottom of things before calling the police. The mystery of the circumstances of the father's death is gradually eclipsed by Rad's own internal monologue, which is both fascinating and disturbing. He describes the brothers growing up in a family characterized by love, depression and dysfunction.
