School principals play a key role in the Alberta education system. Among many other things, they are responsible for ensuring that a positive learning culture, one that features quality teaching practices, exists to foster engaged student learning. As school leaders, principals are guided by the seven professional practice competencies, which are set in place to help ensure the province-wide consistency of the preparation, induction, supervision, evaluation, and professional learning of school principals. The Association is committed to providing school leaders with quality professional development programs that are consistent with the provincial competencies. This research report is a program evaluation of the Leader2Leader Program designed by the Association for newly-appointed school principals and funded through a conditional grant from Alberta Education. .
