At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, many Russians were dissatisfied with their lot in life. Most were poor and the Russian tsar was no longer as popular as in years past. In 1914, World War I broke out and Russia was pulled into the war - despite the people's protests. All this led to a revolution, a coup d'état and a civil war. We will learn about Lenin, the Bolsheviks, communism, the notorious Rasputin, rumors of cannibalism, and acute poverty.
