When the Littles decide it's time to get a dog, everyone has a specific purpose in mind. Papa wants Sally Dog Little to bark only when burglars come. Mama wants Sally Dog Little to walk with her every morning, afternoon, and evening. Twinkle Little wants Sally Dog Little to sleep on her bed and cuddle up close. Sally Dog Little commences her working life and does what is expected of her. But then things go awry, and the formality of the Littles' household threatens to come undone. It's up to Sally Dog to restore order!
