Having killed his brother-in-law, Orrin Brower of Kentucky was confined in the county jail where he awaited his trial. He escaped by beating down his jailer with an iron bar, robbing him of his keys and more importantly, his life. Brower wends his way into the woods where he is confronted by an apparition who impels him to return to town and turn himself in.
