Born in Scotland, R.L. Stevenson was a writer of diverse interests and skills. This book recounts the experimentation of Dr. Jekyll, a physician aware of the goodness and evil within his own soul and indeed that of man generally. Jekyll discovers a drug that creates his alter ego, one that is the incarnation of evil itself: Mr. Hyde. The struggle between the conflicting impulses of Jekyll and Hyde becomes a struggle between goodness and evil themselves. A struggle, it turns out, that is waged to a bitter and deadly end.
