Aboard the spaceship abbey Prominence, 14-year-old Bart is a novice monk who is also training to be a pilot under Gary, the ship's crusty, hard-drinking captain. When an unidentified Remora-class vessel drifts into sight, only Bart and Gary see the potential danger of rescuing its passengers - and their fears are realized as the thieves begin looting the ship.
