Thousands of tenants in the past year were forced from their high-rise apartments after the buildings they call home failed safety audits. With power, water, and heat shut off as a result, residents scrambled for accommodation in an already extremely tight rental market. Part of a generation of purpose-built rentals - some now approaching 70 years old - such buildings are a crucial part of the rental market, housing many thousands across the GTA. The Agenda discusses whether these building can be kept onstream, safe and affordable.
