The author, a Mohawk from the Turtle Clan, has gathered stories of childhood food memories from Residential School Survivors. They share the knowledge that many Indigenous families were food secure prior to the introduction of western fare and that traditional foods and practices - fishing, hunting, trapping and gathering - played an integral role in health and strength.
