Following the death of his father, Copper, fifteen, faces enormous changes, and he wonders about things he used to take for granted, including his place in the world, friendship and loyalty, and the role of luck in his future. Meanwhile, Copper's uncle writes to him in a journal, sharing knowledge and offering his advice on life's big questions as Copper begins to consider what matters most.
