In late 2020, India's government imposed new agricultural laws, outraging many of the country's farmers. For more than a year, tens of thousands of growers protested, saying it removed protections guaranteeing them a minimum price for their crops and left them vulnerable to big corporations. As the protests grew so did support internationally, including from a large Indian diaspora living in Canada.
