Chromium is used in stainless steel, is corrosion-resistant and shiny. It produces the intense red of rubies and the signature green of emeralds. Broccoli is a good source of chromium 3, which, among other functions, provides support for healthy glucose metabolism. But another form of the element, chromium 6, is carcinogenic.
