In April 1986 the Chernobyl nuclear plant in Ukraine exploded, sending a plume of radioactive dust into the air. The explosion at reactor four was played down at first but quickly became the closest mankind has come to a complete nuclear meltdown. Thirty one people died in the immediate aftermath and thousands more would die over the years from radiation-related illnesses. More than 30 years later, the land around the plant remains radioactive. But that's not stopping disaster tourists from visiting the site of the world's worst nuclear disaster.
