She is a highly regarded anthropologist and academic and an expert on the role of the veil in Muslim societies. Yet at 65 years of age Homa Hoodfar, a Canadian-Iranian scholar, was arrested while researching in Iran. She was thrown into the notorious Evin Prison and cut off from her friends, family and any kind of legal assistance for 112 days.
