A team of Harvard engineers has come up with a fun way to get kids hooked on coding. Starting with simple pictograms, students set responses to certain stimuli that determine the movements of a robot named Root. When they become comfortable working with pictures, the program introduces text-based coding. With this tool, even children who don't yet know how to read can start to code.
