An octopus off the coast of California has broken the record for the longest brood. The dedicated mom guarded her eggs for 53 months until they were ready to hatch. So why such a long brood? "There's a tremendous advantage to being well-developed when you hatch," researcher Bruce Robison tells As It Happens. Robison led the research at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute.
