The purpose of this document, TDSB Instructional Strategies to Support Teaching and Learning in Reading, is to build upon the instructional strategies included in the Ministry of Education’s Effective Early Reading Instruction: A Guide for Teachers and to add additional context to the strategies provided, such as a detailed scope and sequence of skills and assessment information. Instructional strategies for both word reading and oral language are included in this document.
