Did Louis Riel deserve to hang? In 1885, Louis Riel, 'The Father of Western Canada' and leader of Canada's indigenous Metis people was found guilty of High Treason and sentenced to be hung by the neck until dead. Riel decried his trial and called for a 'Commission of Inquiry into the Career of Louis Riel' to assess if he was; a traitor, a murderer, a thief or if he was crazy. This is a re-creation of Louis Riel giving his evidence to his inquiry - an inquiry that has yet to be heard - 125 years later.
