Laurel Cates, a journalism student at Garland University, begins investigating a pattern of misbehaviour and a trail of lies relating to the school's beloved football coach, putting her at odds with quarterback Bodie St. James who sees the coach as a father figure. As they set out to prove each other wrong, their investigations are complicated by growing feelings and mounting evidence.
