Based on real characters who lived through one of the worlds catastrophic events: the 1917 Halifax Explosion, which killed nearly 2000 and injured 9000 more A story for grade school age children ( early elementary = grades 1-4) to help them understand this significant historical eventa brutal event and its importance in the life of this city, but in a positive light of the rescue of a young boy. Uncle Arthur, Togo, the horse, and the grocery delivery wagon were real; the story is fictional, but is based on similar heroic efforts by many citizens and first responders. They helped clear away debris on the streets, rescue a young friend and helped in the citys reconstruction, before eventually returning to their original roles delivering groceries to the corner stores ... a much-needed service in the weeks that followed this tragic event.
