European scientists declared July 2023 the hottest month ever recorded in 174 years. Heat waves affected large parts of North America, Asia and Europe, along with wildfires in many countries, including Canada and Greece. The European Union's Copernicus Climate Change Service said human-caused emissions were the main driver of the rising temperatures. The heat has major impacts not only on the environment and economies but also on human health.
