Fall 1942. The United States is reeling from the attack on Pearl Harbor...and the March family of Massachusetts grieves their own enormous loss: the death of their daughter, Beth. Meg stays home with Marmee, teaching school and writing letters to her beau, John, in the army. Meg is filled with doubt about her choices: Does a life with John mean saying goodbye to her dreams? Jo moves into a boardinghouse and works in a factory making planes for the war effort.
