During the Middle Ages in India, the region witnessed an influx of cultural influences from various empires and faiths. The program begins with an exploration of the Gupta Empire and its successor states that dominated much of Northern India, Students will learn about the rise of powerful Hindu kingdoms like the Chalukyas and Cholas. Viewers will learn about the Islamic influences that began to take hold with the establishment of the Delhi Sultanate. In addition, viewers will come to understand how the introduction of Islam to India by traders, missionaries and other travelers impacted the region.
