Eleven-year-old Jamie has trouble making friends, but when she starts to make a trackable boat to follow the route in the classic children's book Paddle to the Sea she starts to get popular with her classmates. But while she's good at the science skills required for the project, she learns that maintaining friendship is a skill she still needs to work on.
