In 1912 Cairo, Agent Fatma el-Sha’arawi investigates a murder case linked to al-Jahiz, who had opened the veil between magical and mundane realms 40 years ago. The murderer, claiming to be al-Jahiz, condemns modern social oppressions and stirs unrest in Cairo. Fatma must solve the mystery to restore peace, while considering the possibility that the murderer could indeed be al-Jahiz.
