World War II has just ended and Barbara is ready for things to get back to normal. But, instead, her father is heading to Europe to help Jewish refugees immigrate to North America with their families. So Barbara gets left with her trouble-making brothers and her melancholy mother... and a peacock that has just moved into the backyard. Can Barbara come up with a plan to help the peacock find a home before winter hits?
