Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, the United States has provided more than {20}75 billion in aid to Ukraine, which the Ukrainian government has directed toward military operations, economic support, and humanitarian assistance. Two years into the war, however, some Americans and key members of Congress have questioned this policy and urged an end to backing Ukraine financially. Ukraine's war against Russia may not be winnable, they argue, and supplying military aid has contributed neither to victory nor peace. The Ukrainian government has provided little oversight or accountability of the funds, they contend, and the money could be more wisely spent on domestic and other foreign needs. Opponents of ending the funding argue that the United States has a moral obligation to help an ally that was attacked by a rogue-and much larger-nation. Ukraine is a democracy with ties to Western Europe and the United States, they contend, and stopping Russia's unprovoked aggression serves America's strategic interests. Should Congress stop funding the war in Ukraine?
