Before camels were masters of the desert, they were masters of the snow. A remarkable discovery in the Canadian Arctic uncovered the remains of a camel. Researchers also say the find provides evidence that the camels now plodding over the sand dunes in Africa and the Middle East can trace their origins back to the giant camels that evolved in our North. Their large hooves made walking in the frozen Arctic easier and their iconic humps, which store fat, were useful for surviving long, cold winters. Now their big feet and humps are useful in the desert. This short discusses adaptations, habitat and climate change.
