Cerberus, a creature from Greek mythology, is a terrifying three-headed dog that guards the entrance to the underworld. He was a pet of Hades, the god who ruled the underworld, and he was defeated by Hercules and Orpheus. Similar creatures are found in Norse and Egyptian mythologies.
