The perimeter of a shape is the distance or measurement around the shape. To find the perimeter of a shape we add all the sides together. We use centimeters or meters to measure the length of a shape's sides, and add them together to get the perimeter. For example, a square with sides that are 3cm long would have a perimeter of 12cm, since 3+3+3+3=12.
