Nykeem joins forces with Lindyn, a young Six Nations lacrosse player looking to score more goals. Dr. Heather sends guest pro Kelsey to demonstrate how torque and the axis of rotation can supercharge a shot. The further the ball is from the centre of axis, the more velocity it has, so holding the stick near the end adds to the power of the shot as Kelsey rotates around her axis, which is her back. Lacrosse began thousands of years ago when First Nations people played games that sometimes lasted for days. The game was named by French missionaries who thought the stick resembled a bishop's cross. Sticks today are usually made of a composite material which is more flexible and durable than the traditional hickory wood.
