The Minotaur, a mythical creature from Greek mythology, had the head of a bull and the body of a human. Guarding the complex labyrinth designed by the architect Daedalus for king Minos of Crete, he was fed human sacrifices. The Minotaur was killed by Theseus with the help of princess Ariadne. He is often depicted in art as fierce and savage, but some versions show him as a gentle, misunderstood creature.
