Lots of cylinders can be found in grocery stores. Cylinders have identical circles at each end and the side is a rectangle. To determine the volume of a cylinder you multiply the area of the base by the height. The surface area of a cylinder is the area of the circle x two plus the area of the rectangle. Your challenge: find two cans of foods that have the same volume (e.g. a 100 ml soup can and a 100 ml corn niblets can), but a different shape, and then compare the surface areas of the cans. Are they the same?
