Brandy Yanchyk visits a remote wilderness lodge at Nimmo Bay in British Columbia's Great Bear Rainforest. A helicopter takes her to old growth forest, a glacial stream in where she learns about fly fishing, and then to the ice of a glacier. By boat in the bay they see seals, whales, and a black bear finding food in the intertidal zone before the salmon arrive later in the summer. The lodge also offers a unique bear saving trade-in program; anyone who has a lottery licence for hunting grizzly bears can trade it for three days at the lodge, where they are taken on bear viewing expeditions instead of bear hunting trips.
