Canadian journalist Brandy Yanchyk travels through the Northwest Passage and explores Nunavut on Adventure Canada's expedition cruise ship. Navigation through the ice in this waterway is tricky as global warming opens it up to leisure and cargo ships. Recently, the graves of the ships in the Franklin Expedition, which disappeared here in 1848, have been found. The ship stops at Beechey Island where three graves of Franklin crew members can be seen. On the voyage they visit three remote, rarely visited northern National Parks - Auyuittuq with striking fjords; Sirmilik, the place of the glaciers and polar bears; and Qausuittuq, where the Inuit still hunt. They also visit three Inuit communities including Pond Inlet where tourism is becoming economically important, and residents educate visitors about their culture.
