Guest pro Kira joins host Nykeem, Dr. Heather in the Sports Lab and up-and-coming powerhouse Megan to dig into the science of the float serve. A float serve is hit with as little spin as possible; when the air moving around the ball hits the seams, the turbulence created affects the path of the ball, making it unpredictable. Isaac Newton's First Law of Motion comes into play when a ball is served (put into motion by the player); the force of gravity, which is stronger then the force of the server, brings the ball back to earth. Volleyball was created by W. G. Morgan, a YMCA sports director in Massachusetts in 1895, and today it is played worldwide. As humans have grown taller on average since then, the height of the volleyball net has been raised to make the game more challenging.
