The Songkran festival is all about water and celebrates the Thai new year. It begins on April 13th and lasts for 3 days in Thailand. It's all about moving forward in life and the water is symbolic of this as it is used to wash away the previous year and get ready for the new year. It is the start of the Buddhist New Year.
