Antoni Van Leeuwenhoek is known as the father of Microbiology, which is the study of microorganisms. He was the first to look at bacteria underneath a microscope. He also made important changes to the microscope throughout his life time, creating hundreds of different lenses to look through, and increased the magnification of microscopes.
