In this episode Brandy Yanchyk has an Indigenous experience at the Alaska Native Heritage Centre in Anchorage. Joined by Cultural Programs Manager Loren Anderson, he shares the diverse history of the native people that makes up 15% of the entire population of the state. Loren explains the many historical places of the heritage centre like the clan house/long house where four house posts sit, representing various ideals such as respect for culture, family, yourself and the environment. He speaks about how it is the duty of every generation to pass on knowledge and remind people of history and this can be done through totem poles.
