In May of 1921, Frederick Banting approaches renowned physiologist John McLeod of the University of Toronto with a theory on how to treat diabetes. McLeod provided him with lab space and a student assistant and Charles Best won this coveted position with a flip of a coin. They discovered insulin and secured a place in medical history.
