This is a timeline of the history of the Empires of the Americas over 5,000 years. First was the Norte Chico (modern day Peru) 3100 BCE, followed by the Olmec People (Mexico) with complex temple structures, the ancient city of Teotihuacan in Mexico with the Temple of the Sun, the Mayan Civilization with temples such as Chichen Itza, the Toltecs, the Aztec Empire, and the Inca Empire. When Spanish conquistadors arrived in the 16th century the last empires fell.
