In this episode Brandy Yanchyk learns about Native Hawaiian culture at the Lanai Culture and Heritage Center. Educator at the Heritage Center Diane Preza talks to Brandy about her duty to share her roots to remember where they come from after their culture and language was banned for so long. At the Center, visitors can find items from long ago such as petroglyphs, ulumaika (a bowling game made from stones) and Ishi Usu (soy bean mill/grinder). Lastly, Diane Preza shows Brandy how to make a lei, using plants from her garden like the lei and fern.
