In the Northern Midwest region of the United States is the state of Mississippi. It's famous for magnolias, the mighty Mississippi River and blues music. When Jim Crow laws were overturned, Black Americans gained equal rights thanks to the work of civil rights leaders like Medgar Evers. Blues music was born in the Mississippi Delta emerging from black communities in the lae 1800s.
