Workplace experience is a much needed and rewarding situation for students. With co-op placements, apprenticeships, job shadows and internships, students have opportunities to gain a competitive edge by learning and showing their know-how in the real world. There are safety hazards in every job. This Canadian-produced program introduces senior high school and post-secondary students to the principles of workplace safety and health. Produced in consultation with various Canadian safety consultants, students are given important, potentially life-saving information on their rights and responsibilities in the workplace, and questions to ask their employer. Each and every worker in Canada has three rights: the right to know, the right to participate, and the right to refuse unsafe work. Every worker has responsibilities as well: the responsibility to work safely, to report hazards, and to use or wear protective devices. These rights and responsibilities, along with important safety and hazard information, are outlined to help students make informed decisions, and learn to protect themselves and those around them by working smart. Includes information on WHMIS and GHS.
