Beaches are ecosystems which are constantly balancing and rebalancing themselves, in order to flourish. On the divergent coasts of Nova Scotia, Canada, we'll explore this ever-changing equation between land and sea. On the muddy West, the Bay of Fundy boasts the highest tides on the planet... but when those tides are out, migrating sandpipers fuel up on the "emptied" beach. Replenishing in the tides are wee pools of foundational life - periwinkles, bryozoa and hermit crabs--at the beaches of Burntcoat Head. Then, on the sandy East Coast, an invasive alien species threatens to imbalance the entire ecosystem. Conservationists strive to keep the"100 Wild Islands" wild - they're one of the most harmonious archipelagos left in the world. Finally, at Lawrencetown Beach, surfers learn to live in concert with wild nature - the wind, water & sand.
