It's November in the Luangwa Valley. There's been no rain for half a year. Lagoons have dried to hard, cracked mud. The scars of waterless streams and creeks crisscross the land. A baby elephant treks miles with his family each day to find enough food, but there is a distant promise of relief. Through their spongy feet pads, the elephants can hear the rumble of far off thunder; the rainy season begins.
