Through examples from the world's five major religions - Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Judaism - we learn what religion is, why people turn to religion, and how it gives meaning to people of different faiths. Why do we have religions? Religions enrich the cultures of which they are a part. They meet psychological, emotional and social needs; they provide a variety of answers to universal questions. The video  looks at belief systems, rituals, rites of passage, ceremonies, religious festivals, holy places, symbols, prayer, monotheism, and polytheism. Religion has also led to disagreements and conflicts between people of different faiths and differing philosophies of life.
