Cas9-CRISPR is a method of cutting and editing genes. CRISPR sequences and the Cas-9 enzyme form a system used by prokaryotes to find and remove viral DNA. Scientists have adapted it to use on DNA in the lab, and to insert new sequences into that DNA. Cas9-CRISPR is a natural mechanism which bacteria use for editing their genes and it can be used to fight a range of diseases.
